Škoda Electric will deliver new trolleybuses to Romania. The Plzeň-based company won a tender in Galati, where nearly a quarter of a million people live. The local transport company will acquire fourteen new modern Škoda 26Tr trolleybuses. The order is worth about 150 million crowns.

After delivering nearly sixty trolleybuses to other Romanian cities of Timisoara and Baia Mare, this is another significant success in this exciting and emerging market,“ says Škoda Electric Member of the Board Karel Majer.

The Plzeň-based company will deliver twelve-meter vehicles with comfortable equipment to Romania. „The vehicles are air conditioned in the passenger and driver compartments, and they are equipped with a modern information system with cameras and a record of the number of passengers,“ says Pavel Kuch, Business Manager of Škoda Electric.  He also notes that the operation of the new trolleybuses will be both ecological and cost-effective for the transport company. „Thanks to the use of supercapacitors, the vehicles will be able to recover the braking power in the vehicle, which will reduce the overall consumption of the vehicle,“ emphasizes Pavel Kuch.

Škoda Electric is Europe's largest trolleybus manufacturer. Over the existence of its trolleybus production, it has delivered more than 14,000 trolleybuses in the domestic and foreign markets. Czech trolleybuses are operating in around thirty countries of the world - in Europe, Asia and North America. In Romania, there are 50 trolleybuses in Timisoara and another eight in Baia Mare.

In addition to the traditional development and production of trolleybuses, Škoda Electric offers two types of new battery-powered electric buses. The company also succeeded in a tender for the supply of electric buses for Arriva Morava, which presented a fleet of ten new electric buses in Třinec for the local public transport system last week.
