The carbody was built using a differential construction system from steel with a higher yield strength and increased corrosion resistance, in combination with stainless steel used for external cladding and corrugated flooring. The stainless steel construction has its advantages in comparison with the aluminum integral construction – it enables higher variability in changes to the carbody size, and repairs are simple and can be made in a repair facility. Carbody weights of both stainless steel and integral aluminum are comparable.
The drive concept, on the basis of asynchronous traction motors and invertors using the IGBT technology, is carried out in accordance with the present world’s trends. The traction container consists of four individual traction voltage inverters, each feeding its own squirrel cage asynchronous traction motor.
