The history of Pars nova in Šumperk begins after World War II, namely on 8 December 1947, when the cornerstone was laid for the construction of a plant on 22 hectares of land of the former Chiari farm. On 1 June 1952, the partial operation of the new ČSD-Workshops commenced here. In 1960, the company consisted of two plants: the Šumperk Workshop for repairing vehicles and the Česká Třebová Workshop, also for repairing vehicles. In 1973, the name of the company was changed to ŽOS (Railway Repair and Engineering Plant) Šumperk.
The plant in Šumperk was originally intended only for repairing motorized railway cars. That decision, however, was soon reevaluated and a prototype repair shop was built here to repair not only motorized vehicles but also all types of loco-tractors, practically all models of electric locomotives and various special vehicles for trolley maintenance and many others. Nearly 8,000 vehicles of fifty different structural series and types were repaired during the first 15 years of workshop operation.
In 1993, a new chapter in the history of the company began to be written with the privatization of ŽOS Šumperk into the limited liability company Pars DMN s.r.o. Šumperk. At this time the management also decided to expand company operations to include the repair of other models of railway vehicles, as well as trams. On 1 August 2000, the company began to be publicly traded under its new name Pars nova a.s. In March 2008, Pars nova was incorporated into the Škoda Transportation Group. In April 2018, Škoda Transportation was acquired by the PPF financial group.
