Daniel Schambach, previously sales director for Škoda in the DACH and the BE-NE-LUX-regions, was appointed as managing director of Škoda Transportation Deutschland GmbH. Zdeněk Majer who also serves as the vice president of the Škoda Transportation Group and as the chairman of the board of the Finnish subsidiary Transtech Oy, remains member of the management board. In the last years, Škoda has been able to achieve a number of important successes, just recently a contract for the delivery of a total of 80 trams for the transport operator Rhein-Neckar-Verkehr (rnv) was signed, which is the largest export contract ever concluded in the history of Škoda Transportation.

„The DB Regio order for the new NIM-Express and the tenders we have won for the delivery of trams to Chemnitz and now to Rhein-Neckar-Verkehr gave Škoda Transportation a firm position in the market. Adjusting our internal structure to this expansion strategy is the next logical step. In the past five years, Daniel Schambach has worked with me on the development of the markets in the DACH- and BE-NE-LUX-regions. He has the experience and knowledge necessary for this position and is the ideal addition to the management of the Škoda subsidiary in Germany”, Zdeněk Majer, vice president of the Škoda Transportation Group and member of the management board of Škoda Transportation Deutschland GmbH explains the reasons for the changes in the management.

In future, the Škoda subsidiary in Germany should be developed to become a business unit for sales, technical support and service. Apart from that, the sales activities in Germany, Austria and Switzerland should be further strengthened. „I see a lot of potential for our products in the years to come, our job is now to use those opportunities. I look forward to the new management position and to further expand the position of Škoda Transportation on the German speaking market, states Daniel Schambach, new managing director of Škoda Transportation Deutschland GmbH.

In recent years, Škoda Transportation has achieved a number of important successes in Germany: Among those is the delivery of the new NIM-Express to DB-Regio, a project with a volume of approximately 100 million Euros. The push-pull double-deck units have a maximum speed of 189 km/h. Each trainset consists of a driving car, four intermediate cars, the end car and the latest Škoda Transportation Emil Zátopek electric locomotive, which has been specifically designed for Deutsche Bahn. Further, Škoda Transportation will deliver 14 modern bi-directional low-floor trams from the ForCity-family with a total value of more than 35 million Euros to the Chemnitz Transport Authority. Just recently, Škoda has been successful in the tender for the delivery of 80 modern trams for the Rhein-Neckar-Verkehr (rnv) transport company. The contract also includes an option for 34 additional vehicles. The basic contract value is more than 250 million.
