  • Project name: Electric train unit chassis with internal frame

    • Information about the project: ŠKODA TRANSPORTATION a.s. is implementing the “Electric train chassis with internal frame” project. The project focuses on research into the possibilities of reducing the weight of the chassis of an electric train unit. The new findings will be followed by the development of a prototype chassis for an electric train unit with an internal frame. The planned research and development activities include elements that are highly innovative on a global level and will lead to the setting of completely new technical parameters for the chassis. These include research into the use of non-standard material for the stringers or the variation in the use of friction brake types. This project is supported by the European Union in the amount of CZK 32,181,016.68.

 

  • Project name: Development of the ŠKODA TRANSPORTATION a.s. test and prototype centre

    • Information about the project: ŠKODA TRANSPORTATION a.s. is implementing the “Development of the Test and Prototype Centre of ŠKODA TRANSPORTATION a.s.” project, the aim of which is to provide space for new employees and for newly created development teams (from existing Škoda Transportation employees and university students), including HW equipment, the acquisition of licences for specialised SW tools already owned and brand new ones, and the purchase of special test equipment, instruments, and machines for testing prototypes. The purpose of the Development of the Test and Prototype Centre of ŠKODA TRANSPORTATION a.s. (OP EIC) project was the expansion of infrastructure for research and development. The research infrastructure can be accessed by other users as a commercial service. This project is supported by EU funding in the amount of CZK 69,073,964.

  • Project name: Continued development of the ŠKODA TRANSPORTATION a.s. test and prototype centre – II. STAGE
    • Program: OP EIC POTENTIAL
    • Project number: CZ.01.1.02/0.0/0.0/17_164/0014710
    • Information about the project: ŠKODA TRANSPORTATION a.s. is implementing the “Continued development of the ŠKODA TRANSPORTATION a.s. test and prototype centre. – PHASE II” project, the aim of which is to continue the already-commenced equipping of the base for the development and testing of prototypes of rolling stock. The implementation of the submitted project consists of the acquisition of necessary new software tools, hardware and technologies. All these investments will be exclusively for industrial research and development. Thanks to this, research and development activities will be significantly intensified and it will be possible to tackle highly demanding projects in the high-tech field. The aim of the project is to acquire new fixed assets that will enable further development of research and development activities within the company. This project is supported by financial support from the European Union in the amount of CZK 6,358,779.50.

ŠKODA ELECTRIC

  • Project name: Development of traction converters based on SiC semiconductors
    • Program: OP EIC APPLICATIONS
    • Project number: CZ.01.1.02/0.0/0.0/15_018/0003317
    • Information about the project: ŠKODA ELECTRIC a.s. is implementing the “Development of SiC-based traction converters” project, which aims to develop a new generation of SiC-based traction converters for wheeled and rail vehicles. The traction converter with SiC semiconductors will be tested for applications up to 1000V for public transport vehicles and a high-voltage variant will be prepared for converters for railway vehicles (above 1000V). These inverters will undergo complete type tests and tests on specific vehicles. The direct output of this project will be two prototypes: Traction converter with SiC elements up to 1000V and Traction converter with SiC elements above 1000V. This project receives financial support from the European Union under the Operational Programme Enterprise and Innovation for Competitiveness.

 

  • Project name: Development of a new insulation system for electric motors

    • Project number: Development of a new insulation system for electric motors
    • Information about the project: ŠKODA ELECTRIC a.s. is carrying out the “Development of a new insulation system for electric motors” project, the aim of which is to develop two new electrical insulation systems for the complete ŠKODA ELECTRIC motor portfolio with an emphasis on high temperature and mechanical resistance. New electrical insulation systems will allow the production of more competitive traction motors. This project receives financial support from the European Union under the Operational Programme Enterprise and Innovation for Competitiveness.

 

  • Project name: Functional safety of the electrical equipment of rolling stock
    • Program: OP EIC APPLICATIONS

    • Information about the project: ŠKODA ELECTRIC a.s. is implementing the “Functional Safety of Electrical Equipment for Rolling Stock” project, which will result in a total of three prototypes through the development of a traction converter for rolling stock in the SIL 2 functional safety level. To secure this output, a completely new control processor system must be developed and approved by a foreign assessor and then by the German rail authority EBA. Another partial objective is to develop new control units for switching power semiconductors to meet SIL 2 and to assess the safety risks of other components of the traction converter. This project receives financial support from the European Union under the Operational Programme Enterprise and Innovation for Competitiveness.

 

  • Project name: Traction battery system development

    • Information about the project: ŠKODA ELECTRIC a.s. is implementing the “Development of a traction battery system” project, which aims to develop a traction battery system for public transport vehicles. The output of the project will be a prototype battery pack with integrated cooling and the corresponding subcomponent of the traction battery management system (BMS). This project receives financial support from the European Union under the Operational Programme Enterprise and Innovation for Competitiveness.

 

  • Project name: New research base for traction equipment of ŠKODA ELECTRIC a.s.

    • Information about the project: ŠKODA ELECTRIC a.s. is implementing the “New Research Base for Traction Armament of ŠKODA ELECTRIC a.s.” project, the aim of which is to build three new industrial research and development laboratories (the EMC laboratory, traction battery system laboratory and vibration and noise laboratory) and at the same time to expand the technical equipment of the existing research and development base, which will be implemented by purchasing new measuring equipment and software. This project receives financial support from the European Union under the Operational Programme Enterprise and Innovation for Competitiveness. The purpose of the project entitled New Research Base for Traction Equipment of ŠKODA ELECTRIC a.s. (OP EIC) was the establishment of infrastructure for research and development. The research infrastructure can be accessed by other users as a commercial service.

  • Project name: Škoda TVC – Innovation of axle collector for tram vehicles

    • Information about the project: The subject of the project is the purchase of machinery and equipment necessary for the introduction of the production of an innovative product of axle collectors for tram vehicles and its launch on the market. In particular, the purchase of a milling centre and a carousel. It is the innovation of a product and a production process in order to create the conditions for efficient production in order to ensure the supply of products required by the market, which require high reliability, durability, technical design quality and precision.
