ŠKODA ELECTRIC WILL IMPLEMENT ANOTHER TROLLEYBUS PROJECT IN FRANCE
Škoda Electric will significantly contribute to the delivery of twenty-two trolleybuses for the French city of St. Etienne. The fleet of new low-floor trolleybuses will be equipped with complete power equipment from the Plzeň-based company, including batteries for driving outside traction networks with a capacity of more than 40 kWh. Škoda will also ensure the final assembly and testing of all vehicles in Plzeň.
"By the end of this year, the customer should receive the first five trolleybuses. Further deliveries will be spread out between 2019 and 2022. These are modern, 12-meter trolleybuses with a new body. The cars will be fully air-conditioned, equipped with a camera system and a new innovated interior lighting system. The battery system from Škoda Electric will enable travel in track sections without a traction line, and the batteries will recharge when the trolleybus is connected to a traction line, " explains Pavel Kuch, Sales Manager of Škoda Electric.
The main factor of Škoda's success in France is high customer satisfaction with the quality and reliability of the Škoda traction system with batteries for autonomous driving, which is used in a number of partial Škoda trolleybuses delivered to Cagliari, Italy; Castellón, Spain; Budapest, and many Czech cities.
Škoda continues to successfully conquer the French trolleybus market; in addition to the project for St. Etienne, it will also contribute significantly to the supply of three articulated trolleybuses with traction batteries for Limoges in 2019. There are currently only four cities in France with trolleybus transport - Lyon, Nancy, Limoges and Saint-Étienne. More cities in France intend to return to these environmentally friendly vehicles in the coming years
